The family
van der Pluijm
originates from Dussen/Hank,
since 1814
Noord-Brabant, formerly Zuid-Holland. A very nice book with much data
is
"The
history of Dussen". Probably the first van der
Pluijm's, that were catholic, moved from the area of Den
Haag/Leiden to the largely catholic Dussen
Munsterkerk around 1670, in the time that polderland was regained from
the lands that were drowned in the
Elisabeth flood of 1421 ,
where now lies the present-day Biesbosch. On
instruction of the States
of Zuid Holland and Westfriesland the area of the (nowadays)
Zuidhollandsche Polder was measured and the lots were described, in
1669.
Due to numerous offspring, the family van der Pluijm in Dussen and
the later village Hank became the dominant family in number.
Professions were mainly farmers, fishermen. From about 1750 a large
emigration started, namely from Oosterhout to Rotterdam. It was there
that many van der Pluijm became (all kind of) workers, but particularly
skippers
and bakers are strongly represented. Mainly after 1900 the further
spreading
over the Netherlands takes place.
